Case Conservation & Restoration

The main purpose of the clock case from the clock repairer’s point of view is to protect the movement dirt and debris. From the customers point of view they are part of the aesthetics of the entire clock.

Like all furniture clock cases need to be maintained and looked after, for the most part this only involves a rub over with a bees wax and linseed oil furniture polish once or twice a year. However once in a while they do need professional attention.

This could be because wood worm has taken hold, the veneer is lifting or has become detached and lost, or the worst case the clock case has suffered major damage either through fire, flood or accident such as a fall.

All of these can look like the clock has suffered irreparable damage, this thankfully is not the case. We are able to restore and conserve clock cases in partnership with our professional and experienced furniture restorers.
